For years (and years), I used Gmail for ALL my email. I had it set up for all my domain names (and I had a few) - every email filtered into my Inbox. It was neat and tidy and very organised. Then Gmail pulled the plug on Gmailify and my email hasn't been right since.
I've set everything up on different apps - Apple, Airmail, Outlook. None of them feel like home. My email effectiveness has bombed. I have tons of emails in my Inbox, mostly unread. While clearing emails is not the best job in the world, there's zero pleasure now in reducing the backlog.
Whatever you think about Gmail, and I know it has its detractors, it was a much better system than what I've got now.
The research continues to find the next unicorn of email administration.
I had a lightbulb moment. Sometimes a random solution presents itself when I least expect it.
I was so dis-chuffed with Gmail that I didn't consider this option initially.
I've forward all my email accounts to Gmail. And set up the send mail as for each account. Simples.
As I'd been using Apple Mail, I've moved all the emails back into my Gmail account just using Drag and Drop.
I'll need to go into the server once in a while as the emails will still be sitting there and just clear them out but it's a much more workable system than I'd adopted. We'll see how it goes.
